Meet the artist
Growing up in a family surrounded by arts and music, I developed a great appreciation of Master works in my early childhood. I always believed I would be an artist. Art allows me to find my inner self in painting. I always find intimacy between the subject I am painting and myself. It is like meditation for me.

My background is in engineering, and I started my career after getting my masters degree in Engineering of Industrial Technology.

In 2000 I happened to see figurative paintings by Zi-Wei Tu and was fascinated by his ability to capture powerful human expression through his art. I wanted to learn more about his techniques, so I followed him to work with live models at Pallet and Chisel in Chicago.

As I developed my skills in art, I deepened my artistic education via in-person workshops and online classes with various Master Artists, including Huihan Liu, Zhou Ming Wu, Victor Wang, Quang Ho,Scott Christensen and Jove Wang.

In 2019, I decided to follow my dreams of becoming a full-time, professional artist. Traveling across the U.S. and overseas to do plein aire or figurative paintings has given me opportunities to understand compositions better and be more sensitive towards the colors, light and shadows relationships.
My most favorite Masters are those with strong emotional expressions e.g. Nicolai Fechin, Abram Arkhipov, Van Gogh and Antonio Mancini whom I had studied heavily.

I have been juried into many competitions and am currently a “Signature member” of American Impressionist Society.
